Starting back in 2018, I began working on the Golden Blocks Project, a public art project conceived by leaders from the Lucy Craft Laney Musuem and the Greater Augusta Arts Council. The project was meant to bring the history contained in the museum to a larger audience by commissioning art projects to be installed throughout the neighborhood. Four artists were chosen for the first phase: myself, Kristie Robin Johnson, Sala Adenike Jeter-Allen, and Sara Cooks.
Before we created our works: visual art, music, and literature, the artists met with many individuals including Corey Rogers, historian at the Laney Museum and Pax Bobrow, project manager at the Arts Council, to learn and dream. We shared our ideas and as they developed the works wove together and influenced each other. It was a wonderful experience to work with such a fantastic group.

The piece I created is a ceramic tile map depicting the area known as the Golden Blocks in Augusta, GA including paintings of significant people and places and is installed on the side of the Wallace Branch Library on Laney-Walker Blvd.
